Happy Anniversary to my BFF!

8 years ago today, I met my best friend in the entire world.  We were freshmen in college and we were both recipients of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship at East Carolina University.  Since we were on scholarship, all recipients lived in the same dorm.  Our first night in, we had to attend a meeting where our R.A. went over rules and policies for the dorm.  I don't know what made me decide to go plop down beside ALB, but I did.

At that point, ALB had a notepad and pen and was taking notes on the information being given during the meeting, despite the fact that it was given to us in a handout.  I proceeded to talk to her the ENTIRE meeting and she even asked me to be quiet at one point so that she could continue her note taking.  At the end of the meeting, we had to fill out an information card and one of the blanks was for interests.  I told ALB I was going to put that I was interested in boys and that she should do the same.  She said, "I am not a skank whore like you, so no."  I stopped, pointed at her and said "We are going to be friends."

Over the next couple of weeks, I harassed her by tagging along to lunch and dinner with her, asking her to come pick me up and drive me to class after a night out when I stayed with a friend from high school (she was really mad about that), and also banging on her door and asking her if I could come and snuggle.  I'm not sure when she decided she would reciprocate my friendship, but she was literally the best thing that happened to me in college.

We actually went for a little spell where we didn't talk to each other in between freshman and sophomore year, but as I was moving into my apartment, I walked out and ran right smack into her mom.  So yet again, without planning it, we were right across the hall from each other.  She does not mind putting me in my place and she will be brutally honest with me.  I have always appreciated that about her.  We also have these ridiculous stories that we tell every time we are together (da Marv & DG get really annoyed with us) and we love to relive our trips together.  We have a great time doing silly things, like making up scavenger hunts or googling random facts (seriously).

Here are some of my favorite pictures of us over the past 8 years.  ALB is my buddy getting married in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for pictures from her bachelorette party and her wedding weekend!

Happy Anniversary, love bug!  I can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!  Love you & miss you like crazy!
xoxo
