I know I've mentioned it a few times, but I teach high school social studies. I am a huge supporter of public education and empowering students through expanding their knowledge, holding them accountable for their actions and work, and challenging them to become the best they can be.
Today, I had staff development off campus and was not really able to keep up with updates on current events, so as I was perusing my sources for news stories after work, I was shocked to find this. If you forgot,
Malala Yousafzai was the young girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan for advocating for women's rights and education.
She has since published a book and appeared on
Jon Stewart's show. Please watch her
interview. I couldn't stop crying listening to her talk.
Amazing.
