This past weekend, I helped chaperone a field trip with a co-worker. It's a program sponsored by the YMCA that teaches students first hand about democracy. They essentially recreate the state government and anything that teaches students how democracy works, I'm all about. Their motto is "Democracy must be learned by every generation" and I'm not gonna lie, it gets me every time. However, it makes for an exhausting weekend. On another note, I eat a lot and got to try a couple of new places out.
DG & Winston had boys weekend. That means DG eats pizza every night and watches "Cops" marathons while Winston snuggles. DG sent me this picture because W was eyeing his pizza. W's face kills me when he does stuff like this.
For lunch one day, we went to La Volta. I got the steak and cheese and a salad. I was impressed with their lunch menu and their salad had kalamata olives, which are my favorite (Disregard the blurry picture).
DG entered the Holly Springs Art Council's art show this year. He worked really hard to produce a ton of paintings, and this is hands down my favorite one. He did several other college and city paintings, and he actually sold 4 paintings (including this one) after the show via Facebook. Interested in a custom made piece? Check out his
Facebook page!
I snuck away for a quick minute to check out DG's art show. I caught a glimpse of my favorite food truck in the parking lot, so I stopped and grabbed some fried brussel sprouts. If you live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and haven't tried
American Meltdown yet... you're missing out. Get the fried brussel sprouts. You can thank me later.
My parents came up and surprised DG at his art show.
I'm so excited they were able to come. My dad likes to remind me how lucky I am to be marrying a man that works so hard and that him and my mom approve of. And ya know, he's definitely right.
My weekend finished up on Sunday afternoon. I came home, started laundry (loads and loads of laundry) and took a nap. I also rewarded myself for my weekend with a glass of pinot grigio.
How was your weekend? Hope it was a great one! We're expecting more winter weather on Tuesday and Wednesday and I'm not looking forward to that possibility.
Have a great week!
xoxo,
