Liebster Award

Happy Monday, y'all!  Today was the perfect 75 degree day, so I am sitting out on my screened in porch making a list of things I need to accomplish this week.  I decided to take a break to write this blog post I was nominated for on Friday.  Noelle over at Sunshine and Pearls nominated me for one of the Liebster Awards, an award passed on to bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  The rules are that you post 11 facts about yourself and then answer 11 questions asked by the follower that nominated you.  I am beyond flattered to receive this nomination from Noelle, so here are my answers!

11 Facts About Me

1. My favorite food is homemade macaroni and cheese.

2. I constantly go back and forth between becoming a vegetarian, and always remember I couldn't give up bacon.

3. I rarely leave the house without nail polish.  If I take it off and don't have time to paint my nails, at least one person usually asks me if everything is okay.

4. I really love make-up products.  But I don't like using them because I don't want to waste products.

5. I can sleep anywhere.  I fall asleep when I get still.  The most awkward place?  The chair at the salon when I'm getting my hair done.

6. I really haven't traveled very much.  It's kind of embarrassing and I am super jealous of people who have.

7. I am really bad at holding grudges.  If I get upset with DG, it will go on until he approaches me about it.  It's a really bad habit of mine.

8. I really like listening to older music.  Beach music is my favorite, especially when the temperatures start warming up.

9. I hate having to use the heat/air conditioner.  My favorite temperature is when I can have the windows and screened porch doors thrown open.

10. I have been in four car accidents where I totaled my vehicle since I was 16.  Luckily, I've always been safe and no one has been injured.  Surprisingly, they've all been single car accidents except for the last one, when a lady ran a red light.  That being said, I have a lot of anxiety while driving now.

11. I love candles.  Bath & Body Works candles are my favorite and I keep them all over the house.  When I come home from work, I throw on elastic waist pants and light candles to relax.

Questions from Noelle

1. What is one TV show you feel was cancelled before it should have been?

Sadly... I don't watch a ton of new TV shows.  So I don't have an answer... other than maybe the Golden Girls!

2. What is one quote that truly speaks to you?

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."  Ghandi

It did inspire my little tattoo after all.  

3. What is your all time favorite guilty pleasure?

Oh y'all.  I'm so embarrassed to admit this.  But when I've had a bad day, I love getting a large order of cheese tots from Sonic with a large sweet tea.

4. What was the worst date you have ever been on?

I went on a date my freshman year in college with a guy who was friends with a really good friend of mine.  We just didn't really hit it off and I babble a lot when I'm uncomfortable so it made for an awkward night.

5. What is the song that will always life your spirits?

ALWAYS "Like a Prayer" by Madonna.  ALWAYS.

6. What is something you have learned in the past week?

I take things really personal.  I have always invested myself emotionally into things, whether it is work or social, and my feelings have been getting hurt a lot recently.  I know that I do this to myself by taking so much to heart, but yet I have a hard time not investing myself.  It's a hard line.  I've always learned with friendship that sometimes, it is hard to stop holding on when the friendship is fizzling out.

7. If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?

This is a funny question because I'm planning the biggest party of my life right now for DG and me.  I really love theme parties and I want to have a huge 4th of July party one summer.  I'd really like to have it once I have a house with a pool in the back yard so I can string up lights in the trees and have lots of red, white, and blue themed food items and decorations.  I have a Pinterest board for it; check it out here.  Or, I'd re-plan my bff Lindsey's bachelorette party in Charleston from a few years ago.

8. If you could choose anyone, who would you choose to be your mentor?

Well, I have a lot of personal ones right now because they are good friends who listen to me vent and give advice.  My co-worker KS is a great mentor and I would continue to say her.  But also, Maghon over at All She Wrote Notes.  I'm totally inspired by her business and talent.  I really would love to see my calligraphy take off after I address all of our wedding invitations!

9. If you could change your first name, would you?  What would you change it to?

My middle name is Davis, which is my mother's maiden name.  I have always loved the name and when I was in college, I almost changed my name to Davis instead of going by Meghan.  A lot of my friends from back home call me by my first and middle name, which is something that I hold dear.

10. If you could witness any event past, present, or future, what would it be?

Remember how I'm a history major?  Remember how I am OBSESSED with history?  Okay, so there are a few.  Here are my top 5:

1. Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address

2. The 2nd Continental Congress Meeting/Bill of Rights meetings

3. John F. Kennedy's wedding to Jackie O (is that self explanatory?)

4. FDR's address to the nation after Pearl Harbor

5. V-E & V-J Day after World War II ended (in New York City or Boston)

11. The best part of waking up is?

Sweet Winston sniffing my face to wake me up and coffee.  Always coffee.
