Tuesday Toast: 10 Things I'm Grateful For

I saw this post over on Laina's post and thought I should take some time to reflect.  Things have been a little hard recently, but I wanted to find some positive in some the midst of all this.

one // For my little family of DG and Winston.  The two of them see me at my best and my worst love me unconditionally.  That's huge.

two // My amazing mom and dad.  There were times where I didn't speak to my parents for months, but now, we talk daily.  My relationship with my dad has evolved so much in the past 4 years.  They're insanely awesome.

three // I've mentioned before, but I don't have any siblings.  However, I have been incredibly blessed to have the best friends a girl could ask for and I married into two sisters and nieces and nephews.

four // I still can't fathom I bought a house at 25 years old.  I thought for sure I would live in an apartment until children.

five // I love what I do.  I absolutely adore it.  Are there times of frustration?  Absolutely, but that's with any job.  My students impact my life more than you can imagine and nothing makes me happier than being in front of the classroom.  I am the biggest proponent of public education and I am so happy I get to do what I love.

six // I'm actually ashamed to admit this, but there were times I was embarrassed to admit that I went to East Carolina University.  When I made the decision to attend, it was so emotional.  My grandmother attended when it was East Carolina Teachers College (ECTC), my dad attended for both his undergraduate and masters in education and school administration, and then I attended as a NC Teaching Fellow.  I am over that embarrassment I experienced.  I got a great education, met some amazing friends and professors, and was able to experience so many things I wouldn't have the opportunity for at other schools.

seven // There isn't a ton of public transportation in the area, so I am so blessed that DG and I both have reliable cars.

eight // I am so lucky to have my health.  I didn't always take care of myself physically.  However, I changed my diet and started exercising to feel better and to release some stress.  It has been one of the best things I've ever done.

nine // I am so happy to have the opportunity to network with so many awesome people on here!  I have made some really great friends and had some really neat opportunities.

ten // I am so blessed with the life I have.  I have constant reminders, and try to ward off negativity when it creeps in.

What are you grateful for?

xoxo,
