Sunday is my mom's birthday, so tomorrow we're heading east to celebrate with her. Tonight, we're meeting up with some friends we met in Mexico on our honeymoon who are coming in to town for work! We're so excited!

It's been another cool and rainy week for most of the week. This
chicken noodle soup recipe is so easy and even more delicious. Remember, those are the things I look for in cooking.

We're heading to eat dinner at
The Hen and The Hog in Halifax, NC for my mom's birthday. This restaurant is part of a
revitalization effort in the town. Your daily history lesson is that Halifax was crucial to the American Revolution. The Halifax Resolves was written to encourage independence from Great Britain. I wrote a huge research paper on the significance in college. When I was little, my dad used to take me to Historic Halifax to tour the buildings and learn about the history of the town. It has really gone down over the years, like much of eastern NC, but this restaurant was bought to entice people to come to the town. It's about 20 minutes from where I grew up and I'm so excited to see what's been done there.

My favorite purchase right now is this awesome slow cooker. It's no secret I gravitate towards slow cooker recipes in the fall and the winter, but last year, we cooked our Thanksgiving turkey in the slow cooker. This slow cooker comes with a probe that turns on to warm when the turkey's internal temperature reaches its desired tempature.

My sweet friends over at
Moon & Lola made
Oprah's Favorite Things List for a 2nd year in a row! I got one of each of these ornaments for Winston & Gizmo. And one of my mom and dad for Ellie Mae. Did you know that you can buy all of Oprah's favorite things right from Amazon? My wallet is scared.
