Happy 2016, y'all! I tell you what, this holiday break has been so good for my soul. I am so ready to take on 2016!
Here's a quick recap of what I've been doing.
DG gifted me a door to restore for our home for
Christmas. We've spent the past week working on it. I'm using Annie Sloan Duck Egg.
For New Year's Eve, we went to dinner with one of our favorite couples at
Angus Barn to celebrate. I ordered the wedge salad and the pesto chicken. It was absolutely delicious! This is the exact same meal I ordered for
DG's birthday dinner over a year ago, and it was just as good as I remember!
One of
Angus Barn's claims to fame is their gorgeous Christmas decorations. It was gorgeous, and we witnessed a changing of the elf right before this picture. Also, I ordered
this dress from J.Crew after seeing it on
Katie's blog, and I didn't think it would be in time for New Year's Eve, which is why I planned on wearing
this. However, I was too excited when this arrived early and I got to wear it! Shop all my outfit deets here:
On Friday, I got up and set my desk up for 2016. But that's all I did. My main Christmas present I asked DG for this year was to have 24 hours to myself. I slept in, started watching Making a Murderer (anyone else watching?), and napped. I did cook dinner for us and included black-eyed peas for good luck, but man oh man did it start 2016 off on the right foot. I told DG that it was the best present I've received in a long time.
Desk Details:
I got to spend some time working on an idea with a great friend. And this quote really spoke to me.
I bought this piece and spruced it up a little while adding Rifle Paper Co. liners. This child's desk is the first piece of furniture I'm listing for sale in the area. I've really enjoyed refinishing furniture and various pieces in our house, so occasionally I'll be showcasing some I'm listing for sale.
Sunday, while getting ready for the week ahead and getting back into a routine, I worked in a little time to work on my door a little more.
And I finished with a positive thought and
day 1 of Emily Ley's 1st Annual Simplicity Challenge.
How was your New Year's Eve? Did you set goals for 2016?
Here's my
recap of 2015 and my
2016 goals. Stay tuned for Thursday's post where I reflect on how I did on my 2015 goals.
Spoiler: not so hot.
